Winter 2023

Storytelling has always been the heart of our magazine, and the winter MB Teacher is no exception. In this issue you’ll find reflections on community building in many forms. From two MB teachers using legendary role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons to teach problem-solving, literacy and interpersonal skills, to how Boissevain Collegiate leaders are creating multi-grade connections to improve mental health strategies and school culture, you’re sure to find inspiration in your colleagues’ creativity.
Our cover stories this month are dedicated to Resistance on the Giimooch: The Life of Mary Courchene. Through a teacher’s guide, lesson plans and videos, Mary Courchene, a teacher and Elder in Residence in Seven Oaks School Division shares her experience of intentional acts of genocide in Residential School. In doing so, she and her family have reclaimed and shared their power—to be, to heal, and through education, to create a better future for Indigenous children and youth.
All this and more in the winter, 2023 issue of the MB Teacher magazine!
